CLICO Credit Union Partners with ISC2 on Cybersecurity Awareness: Empowering members to Safeguard Their Homes, Businesses and Families.

PORT OF SPAIN, October 23rd 2023: On October 17th, in recognition of both Credit Union month and Cybersecurity month, both celebrated in October, CLICO Credit Union, invited the International Information System Security Certification Consortium ISC2, the world’s leading member association for cybersecurity professionals, to deliver a live webinar focused on cybersecurity awareness titled “Safeguard Your Business and Families: A Cybersecurity Session”. CLICO Credit Union provided its over 16,000 members and the general public with a unique opportunity to engage with industry experts and learn about the latest trends, tools and tips for protecting their homes, small businesses, and families from cyber-attacks. Business Development & Marketing Manager, Maritza Da Silva shared that “this partnership with ISC2 highlights CLICO Credit Union’s commitment to member development and dedication to empowering our members with the knowledge and resources to navigate the digital landscape securely and enhance their lives.” “In fact, CLICO Credit Union prides itself on a robust Cybersecurity framework and training program led by our IT Manager, Aneel Jogie and his team.” Mr. Anthony Peyson, the President of the Caribbean Region chapter of ISC2, and Deborah Benjamin, a member of ISC2, emphasized the significance of securing oneself and one’s digital assets in an increasingly connected world. In addition, they shed light on the diverse career opportunities available in the field of cybersecurity, inspiring those interested in pursuing a career in this rapidly growing sector with over 4 million jobs available currently. Peyson also shared that “the median age of cybersecurity professionals is in the mid-forties which accounts for over 50% of cybersecurity experts globally. Cybersecurity professionals between the ages of 18 and 34 only account for 11%. So, there is a huge problem where we do not have enough young people to replace experienced cybersecurity experts who are on the verge of retiring or leaving the profession on a whole.”CLICO Credit Union understands this dilemma and the importance of a strong cybersecurity culture as we continue to protect and enhance the lives of our members.
